Ralph Beaumont

Ralph Edward Blackett Beaumont CBE, DL, JP (12 February 1901 – 18 September 1977) was a Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom.
The son of the 1st Viscount Allendale and Lady Alexandrina Louise Maud Vane-Tempest, he was educated in Eton College, Berkshire and Christ Church, Oxford, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1923 and with a Master of Arts in 1953.
Beuamont was Member of Parliament (MP) for Portsmouth Central from 1931 to 1945. In 1932, he was Justice of Peace for Montgomeryshire. Between 1935 and 1940, he was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Postmaster-General, and to the Secretary of State for War between 1942 and 1945. He was High Sheriff of Montgomeryshire in 1957 and Deputy Lieutenant of Montgomeryshire in 1961. Having been invested as a Commander of the Order of the British Empire, Beaumont was Vice Lord Lieutenant of Montgomeryshire from 1962 to 1977.
On 22 March 1926, he married Helena Mary Christine Wray, daughter of Brigadier Cecil Wray. They had three children, including the Rhodesian politician John Ralph Beaumont.
