Raqymzhan Qoshqarbaev - Kazakh lieutenant, who served in the 674 regiment of the Red army and commanded the reconnaissance platoon of the 1 rifle battalion.

Raqymzhan Qoshqarbaev was born in 1924 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Since January 1945 he was on active duty.

Raqymzhan Qoshqarbaev and Georgij Bulatov were the first Red Army soldiers to overcome heavy enemy fire and raise the flag of Soviet Victory over the Reichstag building on April 30, 1945.

After the war Qoshqarbaev was the Head of the "Alma-Ata" hotel. Unlike Bauyrzhan Momysh-uly, he was never awarded the Hero Star. That was due to the well-off status of Qoshqarbaev's father which was considered almost as a crime in the times of Soviet Union.
