Rajputs protecting Buddhism is an alien concept. Maybe in the odd state, but ultimately Rajputs were used by the Brahmins to over throw Buddhist influences.

This article needs to be deleted. Simply unrealistic of the true picture.

The direct evidence that is available, mainly contemporary inscriptions, clearly show Rajput support for Buddhist institutions. I have not seen any evidence that Rajputs were against Buddhism.

In India, Jainism, which is historically related to Buddhism, flourished mainly in the regions ruled by the Rajputs. Some Rajput kings, for example Solanki Kumarpal, themselves were a Jain.

The claim that Rajputs destroyed Buddhism is simply false.

I suggest these references:

  • "Buddhist Monks and Monasteries of India", by Sukumar Dutta
  • "The Rise and Decline of Buddhism in India", Kanai Lal Hazra
