Rajesh Touchriver

Rajesh Touchriver (born 1972) is an Indian film director.

Touchriver had some early training in Kathakali and Kalarippayattu, the traditional art forms of Kerala. He obtained a Degree in Design and Direction from the National School of Drama in 1993. His Post-graduate degree was in visual language/scenography and direction from Wimbledon School of Art in 2001-02. He worked with the National School of Drama repertory company in New Delhi as designer in 1995. In 1996, He took a diploma in Animation Film from ZICA.

Rajesh has directed about 30 plays in different languages. He has done the art direction of a number of Telugu, Bollywood and Hollywood movies. He was also awarded the Charles Wallace India Trust Award. Unlike most film-makers, he chose to make documentaries for social causes, which could be used for mass viewing. Human trafficking, communal riots, sheikh marriages, HIV/AIDS and care for the HIV positive are some of the issues that Touchriver has made films on. All his films have been widely acclaimed for their sensitive portrayal of issues.

In the Name of Buddha, based on the Sri Lankan civil war, is Rajesh Touchriver's debut film as director and screenplay writer. The film won critical acclaim and many awards.
