[edit] Scary Weather

Mr. Kite announces a weather alert. He tells Pee-wee that there's going to be rain and, from the looks of the clouds, the storm's going to be a fierce one. Pee-wee asks the kite if he is sure. A flash of lightning nearly strikes the kite and he says, "Absolutely!"

Pee-wee is happy and he skips around, until Pterri flies in, as scared as a little child would be. Pterri hides under the bed. Pee-wee asks his friend what's wrong and Pterri, in a trembling voice, says that he is scared—he clearly has astraphobia, or fear of violent thunderstorms. Pee-wee tells him not to be scared and wants him to come out of there. Pterri says no. Pee-wee tries again and the pterodactyl still says no. Pee-wee, gently, scoops Pterri up and cradles him. "See, Pterri? There's nothing to be afraid of." Pee-wee says gently. A flash of lightning and a boom of thunder scares the pterodactyl, who whimpers and screams at the sight of the rain. Pee-wee rocks him to sleep and gently shushes him until he is asleep. Pee-wee, careful so as to not awaken his friend, puts him in his nest as he dreams. Brahms' Lullaby plays in the background during this rather adorable scene, alluding to the fact that Pterri is now asleep.

[edit] Fun Stuff

When Chairry laments that the day is ruined because of the rain, Pee-wee demonstrates that there are lots of fun things to do on a rainy day! They first start by making paper airplanes. He tells thw viewers to go get a piece of paper.

Miss Yvonne calls to say she can't come today, because of the rain. She's wearing a scarf over her hair, and when Pee-Wee asks why she removes it, revealing that her hair is huge and frizzy.

[edit] Camping Indoors

A resourceful Pee-Wee decides to hold an indoor campout!

[edit] Ghost Stories

Pee-Wee tells ghost stories about a thumping monster, only to be scared himself when he hears a real thump in the playhouse!

[edit] Reba

[edit] Nothing Left To Do

[edit] Prank Phone Calls

Randy goads Pee-Wee into making prank calls, but when Pee-Wee calls the same home Randy called earlier, the lady of the house is furious and put her husband, Darryl the police officer, on the line. The police officer says that if Pee-Wee ever makes another prank call, he'll go to prison. Pee-Wee apologizes profusely, promising to never do it again. Randy laughs at him.

[edit] Rain, Rain, Go Away

Stricken with Playhouse Fever, a desperate Pee-Wee wishes the rain would go away. Jambi appears and grants the wish. A beautiful rainbow appears, delighting everybody in and around the playhouse.

[edit] Trivia

  • First appearance of Reba the Mail Lady, played by S. Epatha Merkerson.
  • This is Alison Mork's only on-camera appearance. She plays the over-the-picturephone housewife, speaking in her normal voice.
  • It is also George McGrath's first on-camera appearance. Here, he plays the housewife's husband, Daryl the police officer. The other onscreen appearance of McGrath was in Playhouse In Outer Space, where he portrays Zyzzybalubah.
  • When Magic Screen pretends to be a deer, Pee-wee calls it Bambi. Bambi is the name of the titular deer in the fifth animated feature film from Walt Disney.
