[edit] Episode recap

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

An insurance agent (Diana) that manipulated Jon into thinking she likes him visits his house on a rainy night. While Jon is also waiting for a roofer to patch the leaks in the ceiling (which he temporarily remedies by placing buckets on the floor to catch the water), he instructs Garfield not to bother Diana and him. Garfield and Odie play fetch with a baseball, and at one point they begin a fantasy that has them in a cave fleeing from a dragon.

After Jon leaves the room to get Diana a glass of water, she casually suggests that Jon might need some insurance. Meanwhile, Garfield, caught up in the fantasy, thinks Diana is the dragon and throws one of the buckets of water on her. Jon scolds Garfield as Diana takes a shower and then rests on Jon’s bed. Garfield and Odie then get caught up in a Frankenstein-like fantasy and they think Diana is Frankenstein's monster, so they attack her.

Jon runs in and begins to scold them until he notices Diana’s insurance papers fly out, which makes him realize that they aren’t on a date. Diana then decides that she doesn’t care about selling him a policy any more and leaves. Jon is dejected until the roofer comes and says how much she likes his comics. Meanwhile, Garfield and Odie get caught up in another fantasy where they are canoeing at sea.

Spoilers end here.

[edit] Notes

[edit] Trivia

  • Diana runs out the front door and then her co-worker’s car drives off in approximately half a second. Judging from where the car was parked, that was not enough time for her to get to the car.

[edit] Quotes

Garfield: Where’s the ball, Odie? Stupid creatures love to fetch a ball.
[Jon angrily walks up with the ball]
Jon: You’re annoying us, Garfield.
Garfield: Like I said.

[Odie’s ball turns into the Klopman diamond in Garfield’s fantasy]
Garfield: …Look what you’ve found. Do you know what this is, Odie? [Odie barks a positive response] No, it’s not a ball. It’s the Klopman diamond. A priceless gem, as well as a pointless running gag on a popular Saturday morning cartoon series.

Garfield: That’s the mad scientist’s assistant, Igor. Mad scientists’ assistants are always named Igor. It’s, like, a law.

Jon: [To Diana] You just want to sell me insurance?
Garfield: The nerve of you! Trying to take advantage of Jon’s good nature! That’s my job.
