Rainier of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, 9th Prince of Kohary

Prince Rainer Maria Joseph Florian Ignatius Michael Gabriel Raphael Gonzaga of Saxe-Coburg, Prince of Kohary and Duke of Saxony, in Hungarian: Rainer Maria...., in German: Rainer Maria Joseph Florian Ignatius Michael Gabriel Raphael Gonzaga Prinz von Sachsen-Coburg (b. Pola, 4 May 1900 - d. after 7 January 1945 [believed to have been killed in action at Budapest]), was the 9th Head of the princely house of Kohary in Hungary and a Hungarian magnate, being also a prince from the house of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

He was the second son of August Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Kohary and Archduchess Karoline of Austria-Tuscany.

The deaths of his older brother August (1908) and his father (1922), made him the next in line of the succession of Kohary. He succeded his uncle Peter, 8th Prince of Kohary in 1934 and assumed the title Rainer, Prince of Kohary.

In Munich on 15 December 1930 Rainer married firstly with Johanna Károlyi de Károly-Patty. They had one son:

  1. Johann Heinrich Frederick Werner Konrad Rainer Maria (b. Innsbruck, 28 March 1931).

Rainer and Johanna were divorced in 1935.

In Budapest on 13 February 1940 Rainer married secondly with Edith de Kózol. They had no children.
