Rainbow Bridge (Soundtrack from the Film "Rainbow Bridge") was the second posthumous release of Jimi Hendrix music by Reprise Records. The album was released in October of 1971 and consisted of all new material. The album peaked at 15 on the U.S. Billboard album chart. Although it appears to be a "Live" performance album, only one of the tracks was recorded live. "Hear My Train A Comin'" was recorded live on May 30, 1970 at the Berkeley Community Center in California. All other songs are from studio sessions, including the single "Dolly Dagger". The single peaked at 74 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single's B-side was the beautiful studio version of "The Star Spangled Banner" performed by Hendrix overdubbing several guitars. It is noteworthy that Reprise listed Hendrix as a co-producer of this album. It is the last time they would give Hendrix credit. Even though Hendrix produced "Electric Ladyland" and was also listed as a co-producer of "The Cry of Love", Reprise decided never to list Hendrix as a producer or co-producer and any albums released after "Rainbow Bridge".
