Rain jacket
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A rain jacket is a short raincoat constructed of either waterproof or water resistant fabric. It is waist length or slightly longer.
Rain jackets are especially good for sports or other physical activity for which a full length raincoat or cape would be a hindrance. Modern rain jackets for use in sports are constructed of breathable, waterproof fabrics such as Gore-Tex and coated nylons. These fabrics allow some air to pass through, allowing the garment to 'breathe' so that sweat vapour can escape.[1]
While a rain jacket keeps your upper body dry, it does not keep your legs dry. In light vertical rain the upper body shields the legs. But in heavy or driving rain, the water runs off the surface of the jacket onto your pants, skirt, or other lower garment. To overcome this, the jacket may be combined with a pair of waterproof pants to make a rain suit.
