[edit] Transit Officers
Transit Officers are employed by RailCorp to 'Police' the CityRail and CountryLink rail networks and property. They have some police powers, and are able to arrest and issue fines. They carry retractable batons on their person, and handcuffs for theirs and other peoples safety. Transit officers focus on Graffiti, anti social behaviour, litter, and fare evasion. They work in teams of two, and will travel randomly on trains or ticket check at stations. They will mostly work on CityRail services, but have been known to travel on CountryLink services to the North and South for safety reasons (Alcohol related). Tranist officers wear distinct unifroms grey in colour, with a Rail Corporation 'Transit Officer' badge on each arm. They also have stripes on their shoulder depicting their rank.
Transit Officers are an integral part of Rail safety in New South Wales and work closely with the New South Wales Police department.
Transit Officers replaced ticket inspectors and Blue vested 'Chubb' security guards that used to ride on CityRail services.
