[edit] Thanks
For both Template talk:Did you know and Image:Too hot to handle02.jpg. Well, I thought, the image tagging template said it already (It is believed that the use of scaled-down, low-resolution images of film posters to illustrate the film in question or to provide critical analysis of the poster content or artwork) and I don't need to repeat it. For the DYKs all I can tell is have just started to take them seriously, and will try to nominate some in future. (okay, I admit, I already have backlog of several to dos there). Cheers. [edit] Urdu script needed
Hakim Habibur Rahman needs urdu script for the name of the subject (Bangla script has already been added). Can you help? Aditya Kabir 09:00, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I can not write Urdu. However, you may seek help of Ragib and IFaqueer. I am pasting your message on their talk pages. Thanks for the message. --Bhadani 12:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
I have copied and pasted above from my talk page. I hope that you are doing fine. --Bhadani 12:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- I did a google search of Rahman. Do you think this link has any relevant info ?Bakaman 16:12, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bangla Wiki !!
Thanks Ragib. Actually i m thinking about that for a long time. Had problems with the bengali fonts and all. And final year MTech project work is pending. Will definitely try to contribute.
But u mustn't forget people try to refer to the english wiki first. and moreover whoever can surf internet would like to read an english version than to read it in his or her mother-tongue. Is nt it so ?? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jayant speaks (talk • contribs) 18:21, 27 March 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Some queries
Hey, I have some queries regarding typing in bengali.
1. How can i get a key-board map of bengali alphabets so that writing would be easy ?? This is specially required since there are Khanta-ta, Hasanta and so many other type of tricky characters are there.
2. How to link a page in bengali in a page in english ?? for example, if you open 'RabindraNath Tagore' or 'Bangladesh' in english page Bangladesh for example, in the left there's a link the same article written in some other languages. How to achieve that ??
Waiting for ur reply.
By the way, Congrats for Bangladesh performance in the ongoing worldcup. Lets c whether they can reach the semis.
And from which univ are u doing ur masters ?? In which department ?? --Jayanta 04:38, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tools
Hey Ragib. Thanks. Since u r already an admin, i shouldn't give u an advice. Still u can read on :)
There's a popular software from Baraha to write and see the text in any of the indic fonts (includes bengali, hindi both). I m using that for inputting texts in Hindi/Bengali
I wrote some craps (!!) about my alma mater, IIT Kharagpur. Will try to add something fruitful.
So thats all for now.
By the way, have u ever worked on Binary Decision Diagram. I have to generate an ROBDD from boolean expression. I m looking for some help. Through source codes or suggestion in any way.
--Jayanta 07:05, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Another thing i was wondering about: Do we need to upload images each and every time we describe an article in different languages? Say i write about Indian railways in Hindi and Bengali both the languages. Then to describe somthing, say Railway coach, will we need to upload two images (both in Hindi and bengali wiki server) or only one uploaded image in en. server will serve the purpose ?? Hope i convey the question properly. Thankx--Jayanta 07:31, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: JSTOR
Can you take a look at - Descriptive Catalogue of the Persian, Urdu and Arabic Manuscripts in the Dacca University Library: Volume II, Urdu and Arabic Manuscripts by A. B. M. Habibullah (link here), please? It might have stuff we can use for the Hakim Habibur Rahman article. (P.S. Still couldn't manage someone to contribute the Urdu script for the article). Cheers. Aditya Kabir 13:23, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] DYK
Hakim Habibur Rahman has a DYK now. Thanks. Aditya Kabir 16:09, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Hello Ragib,
Just FYI. For some reason, the hook suggested by you on Hakim Habibur Rahman was found to be not interesting enough to be featured as a DYK. While I was on the suggestions page, I did notice that comment, and provided an alternative hook which is now featured in main page as a DYK. Thanks for nominating this article, which certainly deserved DYK featuring. Thank you. - KNM Talk 16:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] BCJ Voting Report Reference
http://www.brennancenter.org/stack_detail.asp?key=97&subkey=36343 is a good example of an important analysis done via a very public threat modeling project including NIST. It is the collective work of such folks as Bruce Schneier and Ronald Rivest. Most threat analysis can't be published because it is done for a private firm or military installation. This is rare in that it can be shared. Perhaps you could look more closely at the PDF of the report and see if you agree that it is a good thing to be linked into http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Threat_model ? Have you had a chance to read it? - Dnklu 01:03, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know about this. I'm afraid I'm not an admin, so I can't really do that much. I only saw that edit summary as I passed through vandal-fighting -- I always try to avoid getting into content disputes when doing this. I have just put the article to peer review. Would you care to take a look? Aditya Kabir 20:08, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Jen Banbury
You deleted Jen Banbury with a comment of nn-bio. Another admin apparently removed the tag just before you delted it, and I was also editing to remove the tag. The oiriginal article included the statement that Ms. Banbury wrote the first published report on abuse at Abu Ghraib Prison, which I think was alone enough of a claim of notability to make a speedy delete inapproprate. Please consider carefully when deleting under WP:CSD A7. Thank you, DES (talk) 03:43, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Please note that WP:CSD is clear that any claim of notability is enough that a speedy is not proper. (In practice obviously absurd claims are ignored, but if there is any doubt speedy is out.) I was an active participant in the debates which led to the adoption of A7, and the consensus then was clear that this was not a requirement of references or sources. A completely unreferenced article is perfectly proper to tag with {{prod}} or put on AfD, but speedy does not give time for references to be found and added. I stillmain tain that "...3/3/07 story Guantanamo on Steroids which was first story in print about abuse at Abu Ghraib Prison..." which was in the version you deleted was a clear claim of notability. I might add that all my references and sources were found on the first two pages of a google search. I fell that many people are using A7 far too freely. It really should be applied strictly, IMO. Please consider the matter. After which if we differ, we differ. DES (talk) 03:58, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
9th circuit court of California (I may have got the name a bit wrong, but it's something similar) has reached a verdict on Assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in line with asylum seeking of the assassins. The verdict probably came through yesterday, or something like that. Can you, please, check it out? If you find anything, and do not have the time to make use of the stuff, I can volunteer. The article needs attention anyways.
BTW, thanks for the JSTOR stuff. I am planning to go to Hakim Habibur's college this week, and meet one of his followers. They have stuff on him. Given my job responsibilities field trips are tough (I keep glued to a computer 16 hours day, analyzing market and consumer insight reports), but still plan to make it to University Grants Commission and Dhaka Nagar Gabeshana Kendra. Let's see.
One more thing - is there any guideline on section size, sentences length, size of the leader copy and such things? Thanks and cheers. Aditya Kabir 05:27, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

- You are so very right. I just thought, an US court verdict may be more acceptable to an international readership than a provincial court as in the court in Bangladesh. Aditya Kabir 05:42, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey there, now that a new edition of the podcast has been published, I thought I'd check how many times our edition had been downloaded... [edit] Image:Primeminister.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Primeminister.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 18:30, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ziaur Rahman images and bnpbd.com
Do we have any reason to believe that BNPD owns the copyright to these images? Who was the photographer? Did he or she donate the copyright to BNPD? What do we actually know about any of this? Jkelly 02:44, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Shahbag again
Would you check the article once more, in light of Wikipedia:Peer review/Shahbag? And, please, check the new leader, as well as the Urban Layout and Civic Life stuff. I have also checked Waterfall Gully, South Australia and Harem for inspiration as advised, but they were not much useful. Advise also on how much I need to incorporate the administration (including civic amenities), geography (including meteorological stuff), demography and such other stuff (they are not easy to collect anyways). And, finally two more things - (a) can I ask someone to help me with the using the citation templates and putting dates to web cites; (b) can I ask a fine copy editor to lend a hand? Aditya Kabir 15:36, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
- Post Script I am trying to get as many things right as possible for the artcile before taking it to an FA drive. Would you be interested in submitting it to the drive by the beginning of the next week (i.e. Monday or something)? I am feeling kind of emotionally unstable to do so myself (too much investment, I guess). Sorry to bother you. Aditya Kabir 16:36, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Other Bengali admins
Oh, didnt know that you are the first Bengali admin! Congrats. But seriously, only two!!! We need to get more Bengalis into this. Its time I start cajoling my friends. :) Anyways, cya around. --soum (0_o) 17:44, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Headings and TOC
...single subsections dangling inside section 2 and 4... - I guess I am failing to understand something here. Can you, please, make it a bit more clear? Is this about Shahbag? I am sure the problem, once understood can be fixed. And, oh, I need advise on how important is the geography, demography bit. I can probably manage some street layout for geography, but for the new thana there is no demographic data in existence yet. Aditya Kabir 19:31, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Indian freedom fighters
So, have we covered all of them? If not, I can start from some part of the list, and you from another :) --Ragib 04:30, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Tthat is not an exhaustive list. Still, we should check if at least that list has been covered. I had a very quick glance at the list. My guess is at least 70% of the people there have articles. Anyway, let's start. You start from top down. I'll see from bottom up. Ok? We may get several more editors on the way, like P.K. Niyogi, for example! Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:42, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Bad revert
I apologise for this bad revert; I misread the sentence and reverted a genuine grammar fix. Thanks for reverting back to the anon's version. Sincerely, SpLoT // 16:42, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
