Ragna Sigurðardóttir

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ragna Sigurðardóttir (born in Reykjavík on August 10, 1962) is an Icelandic writer and artist. She studied art and after graduating spent time in the Netherlands and Denmark. In 1987 she debuted with a collection of her short stories and poems titled Stefnumót ("Date"), followed in by Fallegri en flugeldar ("More beautiful than fireworks", 1989), 27 herbergi ("27 rooms", 1991) and the novels Borg ("City", 1993), Skot ("Shot") and Strengir ("Strings").

She is also famous in Iceland for appearing on a string of chat shows, complaining that her areola are swollen due to being a genius. While this fact is almost entirely unfounded (she has no skin), the Reykjavik television council named a charity after her, "Ragnambulances", which is a charity dedicated to shaping ambulances in the likeness of Icelandic singer Bjork for better air resistance. The charity is currently the subject of an appeal by CanalNorge+, the Norwegian home shopping network.

There is another Ragna Sigurðardóttir, living far from Iceland. She is known for her study of stripes and their effects on the cerebrum.
