From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rafael González-Robles is a footballer, currently playing for Coventry City.

Robles is a 6 ft 9 in goalkeeper, with 23 Spanish U21 caps and 5 B caps.

Robles began his career at Real Madrid, but only managed twenty appearances, which was enough to award him a la Liga winners medal. In 2000 he moved onto Madrid's rivals Barcelona where he made only one appearance in a European tie against Roma. Robles put in a man of the match performance with a string of fine saves and he denied Totti from the spot. Robles was released on a free transfer only two weeks after the game, allowing him to move to Athletico Madrid. He remained there for 4 years but failed to make a single appearance.

Robles made over 20 appearances for the Spanish U21s in the late 1980s and early '90s and took part in 5 B internationals (3 of which were vs Basque).

In 2005, Robels had trials with Hearts, Rangers and Aston Villa but failed to secure a contract. Robles remained match fit by plaing for F.C Freetaila in Corfu. In 2006, Robles secured a 4 month contract at Coventry, due to expire in January 2007.
