The formation of Royal Air Force Air Command was announced to Parliament by the Defence Secretary, Rt Hon Des Browne on 15 March 2007. Air Command is to be formed by the merger of Royal Air Force Strike and Personnel and Training Commands on 1 April 2007.
The Defence Secretary confirmed that the Command would have a single Commander-in-Chief and two deputies.
