I dont get it: where is this house? which one of the palaces? in Vilnius street? Iulius 14:37, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

yes LDM, Vilniaus street. M.K. 14:41, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Style

Juliusz Kłos writes that the palace was originally Baroque style, while Tomas Venclova writes it was Renaissance. I'd rather believe Kłos, since he was an architect. I've checked also Rąkowski and Kucharska and they all agree it was built in Baroque. Maybe it was restored as a Renaissance building because no original plans or pictures were available ? --Lysytalk 15:20, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

neither it is Baroque, neither pure Renaissance. Its something in between - Mannerism, a very popular style in Lithuania at that time. Klos had other Radvilos Palace in mind!!
No, he seemed very depressed by the tragic state of the palace at Ludwisarska (Liejyklos) street. Mannerism is a good explanation, especially after one looks at the picture of the palace. --Lysytalk 16:27, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

To classify this building as pure mannerism style is a bit awkward. M.K. 18:18, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Its exterior decorations resemble mannerism, this is where it expresses itself. other features remain renaissance. Iulius 18:25, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Read mine statement above again, when first sentence of the article, mine statement written in 18:25 once more, and at last your statement written at 18:25. M.K. 19:03, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Let's go with Baroque ? Early Baroque makes most sense to me and is also supported by most of the sources. --Lysytalk 19:32, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I would go for Late Renaissance, not early Baroque, primarily for a Renaissance style arrangement of the Palace. Iulius 10:16, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Fine with me. A good photo would be nice :-) I don't have one. --Lysytalk 11:07, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Good, Renaissance is back. M.K. 19:19, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article's title

The problem might be that there are more than one Radziwiłł palaces in Vilnius ... and two of them are at Vilniaus street: number 22 (this one, currently art gallery) and 41/9 (currently theatre museum). Will we have separate articles for them, or join them in one article ? --Lysytalk 16:13, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

of course join 'em! There have been lots of Radvilos palaces in Vilnius, by the way...Iulius 16:16, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Guys, in the first place, you should distinguish between Little Radziwill Palace and Grand Radziwill Palace. If you live in Vilnius, please take pictures of them. Also, please understand that "Mannerism" or "Baroque" may be convenient labels in the West, but they are not easily applicable to architecture of Eastern European countries, especially to those buildings which have been built and rebuilt numerous times throughout their history. --Ghirla -трёп- 16:00, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

At first, the second palace (ore any other) should be mentioned in this article in order to make the distinction. As I know this palace has not been altered anyhow after the construction so it has retained its original features in contrast to the other palaces in LT. Iulius 16:50, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Right. That was my question in fact. Or: has it been restored to its original shape ? Certainly this much depends on the decorations, not only the form of the building itself. Anyway this is where citing sources could be useful in order not to get into original research. As for the other Radziwiłł palaces in Vilnius, I've heard of at least 4 I think but probably we do not need to worry about this for now, since all the above refers to Vilniaus street 22 only. --Lysytalk 16:59, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
According to V. Drėma researche there were even 9 Radziwill mansions in Vilnius. Iulius 14:02, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
