Radio Romance was the second single from Tiffany's second album "Hold an Old Friend's Hand". It was the first single off the album in the UK
[edit] Song information
By early 1989 radio was changing and the genres played were switching over to hip hop, R&B music. There was becoming less and less room for young pop acts such as Tiffany. As a result Tiffany's single "Radio Romance" failed to achieve as much success as her previous singles. It only made the top-40 in the U.S. but it manage to become a decent sized hit in the UK where it was the first single off the album and it reached #13.
The music video for "Radio Romance" was one of Tiffany's most surreal. In the video she plays a waitress in a diner who calls the radio request line often to request a song for her secret crush. The problem is as said in the lyrics he is holding hands with her best friend. Later in the video Tiffany dances with others in a what looks like a dream sequence. As the video goes on a child appears with a magic wand which furthers the fact the video is based on fantasy.
To promote the single Tiffany performed the song on the Mickey Mouse Club and the The Arsenio Hall Show.
