Radio Holger

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Radio Holger is a Danish extreme right-wing radio station transmitting in Metropolitan Copenhagen.

The radio station is a small and local radio station, but it became rather renowned due to some racist statements made while airing live, these statements conflicted heavily with the Danish anti-racist paragraph, leading to numerous clashes with Radio- og tv-nævnet or Lokalradionævnet i København with later prosecutions.

Lokalradionævnet reprimanded the Radio station on April 18, 2001. Its transmitting licence was revoked in September 2003 for a month, for extreme statements made on live radio March 29 and April 9, 2003, also by Lokalradionævnet. This ruling was later overruled by Radio- og tv-nævnet, however the month was already passed by then. On July 21, 2005 the radio station again made racist hate speeches against Muslims and after closer examination by legislators and jurists, the radio station was found guilty of racism and Radio- og tv-nævnet revoked its licence for three months on August 16, 2005. During that time the station started transmitting on the Internet.

According to Danish law, the Danish government has to support smaller local radio stations financially, however, they withdrew their financial support upon finding out about these allegations.
