Talk:Rachel Bilson
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is her birthday really November 13? If you look up August 25 she appears on the list of birthdays there. At http://www.theocshow.com/bios/summerbio.htm her birthday is listed as August 21. What's the real date?
- That bio is complete crap. They just copied the same old info from the IMDB, like the fact that she's "half Filipina half Latina" (yeah right), which even the IMDB has now taken down. I am pretty sure her birthday is November 13, but not completely. Unlike the case with her ethnicity, there hasn't been a direct source. JackO'Lantern 23:09, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- You know what, I just looked it up on the same fansite that posted the Q&A with her where we got the straight story on her background. They say August 25th. Since they seem to be the best source, I'll trust them and change it to that. JackO'Lantern 23:11, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
- CA birth index also says 8/25.--Fallout boy 19:15, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- So you do Ancestry.com, too? It's a very helpful site when it comes to this kind of a dispute. :) Mad Jack O'Lantern 19:18, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

She is engaged to Adam Brody. There had been proof of this. But Leah West is going out with Adam brody so they are not fully
Some reports from the OC's site and IMDb that Rachel Bilson is half-Filipino and half-Latina
There is no chance of that. I am 'pretty sure' that her father is 'just' Jewish (her paternal grandmother's surname was Weichman). Her mother's last name is Stango - something possibly German, but not Hispanic.Vulturell 05:50, 14 November 2005 (UTC)
her full name is rachelle jade bilson? why do people keep changing that on the main page?????
Question has been answered see - [1] - half Italian and half Jewish. 216.221.81.98 00:54, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Birth name
Aside from sources like the IMDB or RachelBilson.com, her birth certificate at ANcestry.com lists her as "Rachel Sarah Bilson". That's as definitive as it gets. Mad Jack O'Lantern 20:58, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] GA nom
I would have passed this article but for a few things:
- "her father remarried to Heather Medway" - take out the "to"
- "Bilson grew up with her father's family" - clarify this sentence. With her father, or with his family?
- "Selected filmography?" Include it all, unless it is extremely (20+) long, because that sounds like Wikipedia is cherry-picking which movies it wants to include.
- This sentence: "Bilson, who has volunteered as an actress with the Young storytellers program, is recognized by several media sources as being a style icon" Two issues, the young storytellers program has jack-squat to do with her fashion, so that should be in a difference sentence, if not section. Even though their is a reference for the "fashion icon" statement, that is an incredibly POV statement, and the editors need to name names...Something like "She is regarded for her fashion sense. According to XYZ magazines she <insert quote(s)>." Honestly, at 25, she is not a fashion icon. That would be like Donatella Versace or maybe Sarah Jessica Parker.
Fix these things and I'll pass it.--Esprit15d (talk ¤ contribs) 15:04, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Check, check, check, and check. All done and thanks for your suggestions. No, those are her only two films, so "selected" was pointless Mad Jack 02:08, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Vandals?
Has this article been subjected to vandalism? I'm not sure, because I'm not sure about the facts. I reverted it after the first reversion, so no changes should have been made. In the current state I see no vandalism. If I'm wrong please let me know, I'll throw this page on my watchlist, so reply here. --Kyle 01:46, 11 October 2006 (UTC) =)
- It has been subjected to vandalism but is now fixed Mad Jack 02:07, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

- Good, I wasn't sure about some of that information(lol) --Kyle 02:33, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] GA Failing
It is very close yet all the info about her making "Sexiest Woman" lists ect is unsourced and the bit about her character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer is also unsourced. I did consider "Holding" this, but it seemed like a bit too much to source. That said, ouce you get that done, It should easily pass

[edit] GA PASSED
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! Great job. This is a great example of a good article. A very new person, with limited history, but still what is here is well written, npov, and well-referenced. She will need to expand in fame for this to reach FA status, but for now, great job everyone!!--Esprit15d (talk ¤ contribs) 18:14, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! Mad Jack 18:38, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Jewish American father and Italian American mother?!
Really now...what is the ethnic background of her father, as I am assuming the religious background of her mother is Catholic Christian. Hasbro 08:39, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- She said on her website her father's background is European. --Shamir1 07:35, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Images
Fair Use should only be used when there is a specific need for an image, and it is part of critical commentary, for example an event discussed in the article. Given that her physical appearance is not discussed in the article (and why should it... it's not much different from her normal appearance), nor any particular scene from the OC, the image is not part of any critical commentary in the article. ed g2s • talk 20:16, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- "the image contributes significantly to the article Rachel Bilson in providing critical commentary on the actresses most prominent role" what exactly does the image say about her role? The article discusses the OC in about one clear sentence that hardly needs illustration. ed g2s • talk 20:31, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
- So essentially, to translate to English - you're saying at this point we can't even use fair use images at any point in the article. First we could use them in the header. Then we couldn't use them in the header. Now it seems we can't use them anywhere. Don't like this progression. Moreso, I can't see why a user who wishes to contribute to Wikipedia would go around removing images (and yes, having at least one image in the article, especially illustating Bilson's hit show and prime role, is unarguably helpful) from articles. Mad Jack 05:50, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- There are lots of unfree images that would be helpful to this article, however, being a "free encyclopaedia" (as in freely licensed) we do not use them all. We do permit Fair Use under very restrictive conditions, namely when the article absolutely requires that specific image, at which point I refer you to my previous comment. ed g2s • talk 05:46, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
