RACS Cricket Club
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
RACS Cricket Club dates back to 1920, whilst based originally at Churchmanor Way in Plumstead, most will recall our days at Footscray Road in New Eltham where we played from 1947 to 1998, when forced to move from our long term home. We are now at the Metrogas ground in Avery Hill and preparing for our 9th season there.
The Club was one of the founder members of the Kent Metropolitan Cricket League winning the First XI league at the first time of asking. Later joining the North Kent Cricket League in 1989 going on to take the First XI title in three successive years from 1990 -1992. 1993 brought an invitation to join the South Thames Cricket League and again the First Xl title was lifted at the first opportunity.
1996 heralded the restructuring of league cricket in Kent and winning parallel League B brought about promotion to the Kent League Premier Division.
Whilst not reaching those dizzy heights in recent times, we have continued to enjoy our cricket and to create an excellent team spirit.
The success of our Colts has contributed greatly to the rebuilding of our senior sides, with regular appearances from the senior Colts in both Saturday League teams as well as the Sunday side.
