Rabieh
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rabieh is a city in Lebanon, about 20 minutes driving distance from Beirut. It is located in the foothills of Mount Lebanon, on the road to Bikfaya. Rabieh saw its population increase sharply in the late 1980's, following the Lebanese civil war. Many returning Lebanese Christians settled in this area of Mount Lebanon. In large part, these immigrants had left the homeland in the mid-1970's to escape the increasing ethnic tension that predominated Lebanese politics at the time, and which consequently resulted in the Lebanese civil war. Rabieh is, as well, the home of a few predominant Lebanese figures, such as General Michel Aoun, Michel El-Murr, Elias El-Murr, Karl Abou Mansour, Fuad Abou Nader and the soccer legend Sammy Abou Mansour.
