R. R. Patil

R R Patil (born August 16, 1958, Anjani , Tasgaon Taluka , Sangli Zilla, Maharashtra, India) is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra. On November 1, 2004, he was sworn in as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra. He is the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party's Maharashtra unit and NCP legislative party in Maharashtra. He represents Tasgaon in Sangli district in the Maharashtra legislative assembly since 1990. He was also the Home Minister of Maharashtra in the previous government.

He is known as "Mr. Clean" in political circles and popularly known as "Aba". He is a victim of his own image created by the media. Most undecisive, inefficient and escapist is his real image.

'Aba' most popularly known among Maharashtrians, came to the limelight when he put a halt on the illegal dance bars operating in and around Mumbai, for which he was subjected to a lot of controversy . Due to this descision, many people became jobless. Girls involved in this business had to opt for prostitution for livelyhood.
