[edit] Hello R-Hit

You're pretty young R-Hit, younger than I had believed you to be. Nice to see you on Wikipedia, and I hope you find it as enriching as I have. To learn about the wiki headings, and formatting, please see the article on wikitext and absorb its info, and maybe experiment in the sandbox. Эйрон Кинни (t) 23:47, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello R-HIT

Hello R-Hit, welcome to Wikipedia. I hope that you find that you like editing here, and decide to stay. I do have an objection about one of your recent edits. You deleted some content from Vince Young with an edit summary that it was a "minor edit", and that opinions have no place on Wikipedia.

  • Firstly, your deletion removed 146 words - that does not count as a minor deletion. Please only flag a change as minor if it is something like a spelling mistake, or fixing an incorrect link, making a minor change to an image - things of that nature.
  • Secondly, opinions *do* have a place on Wikipedia. This can be a confusing point. The real issue is that *our* opinions should not be written into the article. However, the sourced opinions of people knowledgeable about the subject matter are fine to include. An example would be quoting a political analyst about the prospects of Hillary Clinton running for President of the United States.
  • Thirdly, when you made the deletion, you did not remove the reference that was cited. That had the affect of making the footnotes appear out of order.

If you still feel that this section of text should be deleted, please discuss it first on the Talk page for the article. Thanks very much. Again, Welcome to Wikipedia. If I can ever be of assistance, please let me know. Johntex\talk 15:19, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

I noticed in your edit summary while editing, you asked my how to find categories. Although there is a category tree (I can't recall the location at the moment), your best bet is to just look around and add categories as you see fit, to your userpage. That is how I did it.

Good luck tomorrow at Academic Team Competition in Louisville, I look forward to competing with you! I hope we do well, but I won't be in Louisville until late afternoon, on account of the Spelling Bee in Indiana. Please reply on my talk page. Эйрон Кинни (t) 22:49, 10 March 2006 (UTC) (web site)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music

Whats up? Hi, I'm trying to gather some more interest and support for the Wikipedia:WikiProject Punk music. Please check out the topics and lets get our WikiProject to function better. Recently, I've taken an interest in the Wikipedia:WikiProject hip hop and I consider that WikiProject to be better developed. I am now writing to usernames on the hiphopWP who might be interested in helping with the punkmusicWP. Hopefully we can all work together to improve articles relating to punk as has been done well with hip hop. Finally, I am trying to gather support and opinions concerning the punk house article and specifically the Theta Beta Potata article which is currently in AfD (x2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Theta Beta Potata (second nomination). Please check it out and voice your opinion. Xsxex 09:16, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Left artist.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Left artist.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:12, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Akon

Akon was born in St. Louis. Numerous interviews and articles say that. He moved to Senegal at a young age. --AW 17:44, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

See this interview with him where he says he was born in St. Louis [1] --AW 19:16, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. --AW 15:07, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Akon trivia

Articles aren't supposed to have trivia, see Wikipedia:Avoid trivia sections in articles. Just because it's in other articles doesn't mean it's right. --AW 11:29, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Akon's language

Hi, please see the talk page for Akon - somebody else is putting in Wolof, so we need to figure out if he speaks both or just one, or what --AW 22:59, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Signature

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --AW 19:13, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Help

You go to this page and browse for the file on your computer, make a filename (be certain it is unique, so no other files have it) and an extension (ie., .jpg, .png, and so on), and then make sure you pick a license and be positive that the image is free or used with permission. Then click upload file. The image also needs a source. You've obviously learned how to upload images (this file needs a license, is it copyrighted, used with permission, or free?), just making sure, though. Hope it helps, Rohit. [edit] Vandalism

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to Omarion, are considered vandalism and immediately reverted. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. --Yamla 00:01, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Omarion.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Omarion.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then you need to specify who owns the copyright, please. If you got it from a website, then a link to the website where it was taken from with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 00:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Omarion.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Omarion.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Yamla 00:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Omarion.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Omarion.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 00:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Akon lead in

Hi! I reverted your recent change to say Akon is an American rather than a Senegalese singer. The manual of style guideline under 'Opening paragraph' says it should include "Nationality (In the normal case this will mean the country of which the person is a citizen or national, or was a citizen when the person became notable. Ethnicity should generally not be emphasized in the opening unless it is relevant to the subject's notability)". While his ethnicity is Senegalese, he became notable in the US. Unless him being Senegalese is relevant to his notability, it should stay as it is. If you think it's indeed notable, please state your reasons why. Also, judging by the featured articles of musicians/celebrities I've seen so far, the ancestry is mentioned after the lead in. e.g. Weird Al, Jenna Jameson. Spellcast 10:41, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
