Rügendamm

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rügendamm is the name of a road and rail bridge connecting the German island Rügen with the city of Stralsund on the mainland of the German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The Bridge was built in the 1930s.

There are three parts of the Rügendamm:

  • Rügendammbrücke is the part which is actually a bridge over the Strelasund; its length is 1.8 km
  • Rügendamm is a part on the isle Dänholm and
  • Ziegelgrabenbrücke, a bridge over the Ziegelgraben.

In 2004, a new bridge was built, called the 2nd Strelasundquerung.
