[edit] Style
Réplica's style is a blend of 1970s and 1980s post-punk, 1960s psychedelia, space rock, IDM, electropop and a mix of elements from different genres of electronic music. The band originally started out as an ambient project called Mongolia. Although at the beginning many defined the band as electroclash, the group's live performances now include traditional intruments like guitars and a drummer along with the electronic instruments. Réplica's lyrics speak about life's uncertainty and are mostly written in English, although recently some of lyrics are in Spanish.
[edit] Image
Originally, Réplica were known to perform in black military uniform-inspired outfits with red accessories, due to implications with Nazi imagery the band seems to have abandoned the military chic.
[edit] Career
Despite their low profile image and a considerable young career Réplica has managed to collaborate with Client, being compiled by DJ Hell, or remix artists such as Placebo and Zoé. They also played as opening act for Colder, Client, Nitzer Ebb, Secret Machines, DJ Hell and Ladytron in Mexico.
- Their Song "Truth", made it into the 100 Best Songs of 2006 countdown according to Reactor 105.7 FM Radio in Mexico City.
- A Remix of the same song "Truth" made by DiscoRuido appeared in the movie "Cansada de Besar Sapos" and it's included on the Original Soundtrack CD.
