Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale, more commonly known as RILM, is a database of abstracts of literature (articles, books, bibliographies, catalogues, dissertations, Festschrifts, electronic resources, and reviews) relating to musical topics. RILM was established in 1966 through the joint sponsorship of the International Musicological Society and the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives, and Documentation Centres. It was first published in 1967 and now contains over 400,000 entries. In addition to the printed edition, the database is available online through subscription access. RILM entries typically contain complete bibliographic information and a short description (or "abstract") of the content of the article or resource in question. RILM is one of the primary research tools for musicians, in addition to The Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and The Music Index (which contains a much broader selection of journals).
