[edit] Hey
You're very welcome. Yeah, it's pretty different. Spanish is pretty close to Latin, though, so that makes it easier. I'm at about the same level, so I haven't touched the Latin wiki yet. Are you in school? When I was in high school, they had a program that would have let me take a college Latin course for free as a foreign-language substitute, but I ended up studying it at home. :( Where are you studying it?
Us inclusionists get a lot of this crap. I'll try. Have you also tried the Association of Inclusionist Wikipedians page? They have a page where you can list troubled AFDs! Sorry to keep throwing these links at you. LOL!--Abs Like Jesus 10:59, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Don't give up! Deletion debates are just that. They aren't votes. The person who closes the debate 7 days from the start determines what the community believes in respect to policy. The default is to keep the article unless there is a large consensus to delete. Further, it may take a while for those on Meta to take notice. It's visited less often.
The problem with many of those voting to delete is that they idealize Wikipedia way too much. They think that it should be just like Encyclopaedia Britannica, or something, even though we can obviously include a lot more information because we're 15 times as large. So, I don't think they're saying it's worthless, just that they don't think it's for this site, although I obviously disagree with them.--Abs Like Jesus 03:12, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- I just thought of something. Would you be able to do me a favor? Could you go to my preferences at the top of the screen and add your e-mail address? It's kind of awkward talking like this in public.--Abs Like Jesus 03:40, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AFD
Hey, I noticed the Fuck the earth day AFD and you seemed like you were getting kind of stressed and exhausted. I haven't taken a look at the article yet and I probably won't participate in the discussion, but I wanted to offer my support in any way I can. Stuff like this can get really miserable and I hope it won't drive you away from the project. Let me know if I can do anything. Peace, delldot | talk 18:01, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- I appreciate what you said about "I know it's not the most important thing" (to paraphrase); I think you're wise to not worry too much about it. I also think you've done fairly well with not taking people's comments in the AFD too personally (they can sound kind of harsh at times). About the article, I dunno, it looks like it's probably going to get deleted, since so many people have suggested delete. I don't think I'm going to get involved in the debate itself. I don't think it would be a good idea to mention it to an inclusionist admin, since admins closing debates must be as objective as possible in carrying out what the community decided, you know? It wouldn't be fair if the admin just got to decide. One thing you could do, though, is move the text into your user space (e.g. Fuck the Earth day. Then, if you find more mentions in the press, enough that you think it meets WP:RS, you could suggest bringing it back into the article space and see what folks say. That way at least you wouldn't have to retype the thing. Let me know if I can suggest any other means to help you out. delldot | talk 18:23, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Help!!
Sorry, no can do. This thing about Fuck the Earth Day:
- It started as a joke.
- Few participants.
- Lack of sources. (1 TV episode, if you distill the references).
Try again when this holiday becomes really big.
