[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Cats
Thank you for having joined the project! I hope that you will feel free to improve any of the articles in the project, and possibly take part in some of the project's activities. Right now, we're trying to decide which of the various articles in the scope of the project are of the greatest importance, so that we know which ones to focus more of our attention on. The newly created page is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cats/Assessment/Top-importance articles. Please feel free to make any nominations or express your opinions about any of the existing nominations there. If there's ever anything I can do to help you, please post a message on the talk page or send me one personally. Thanks again for joining the project! Badbilltucker 23:06, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] "Skookum" cat
Look, if you hadn't posted a 600x800 pixel picture of your pet, and the text hadn't been written like you were writing about your own household feline, all cuted-up, it wouldn't have come across like a vanity/personal posting, like so many in Wikipedia. The length of the material that was put in, also, was a little too "cute" and didn't come across encyclopedic: again, like a vanity posting. There are also skookum dolls which aren't yet discussed at as much length in the page, and it's a much better known usage. It's also far from the main context of this word and the culture surrounding it, so in line with that and the eventual article on a skookum doll, it would appear to me that your best input on the Skookum page is to create a partial disambig, or a dab intro line "for the Skookum breed of cat, see Skookum (cat)", and create that article (when there's a skookum doll page, it would be Skookum (doll). You could have maybe a SHORT paragraph on it, but nothing of the self-indulgent length of what's there, which belongs on another page entirely IMO. I still have a hard time believing this is a legitimate feline-fanciers breed of officially pedigreed cat - and you didn't help by posting a poster-sized image of your kitten as if it were the most important thing on the page (never mind the cutesty language).Skookum1 22:32, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Postscript re same
You also shouldn't have the cat breeds category on your own userpage; you're not a cat.Skookum1 22:33, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Double postscript
I just checked the TICA site and found that the adoption of the skookum breed/name was REJECTED unanaimously by that organization, which is your only cite for its existence, and there is therefore a false citation. Pls remove your content, or I will do it later tonight after conferring with some administrators as to this issue. You may love your little kitten, but your pet name for it is not official and the cite you have provided is incorrect and, in fact, contrary to the information provided by the citation.Skookum1 22:36, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
