Quizzing.co.uk
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Quizzing.co.uk is a UK website dedicated to quizzes and similar general knowledge contests, such as TV game shows.
Their activities currently centre around running regular quiz events around the UK - a national quiz circuit, and participating in a worldwide competition by umbrella group called the International Quizzing Assoc. The events can include exam-style tests, buzzer competitions and team "table quizzes". The results of their events are ranked to allow players to compare their performances.
They have also compiled quiz questions for events, newspapers and TV shows, and have made moves into the fields of publishing and marketing. The circuit has had events in 20 locations in England and Wales since early 2003.
250 different competitors have competed since the inception, and 200 are in the current rankings based on performances in the last two years. They usually run events on the first Saturday of each month.
Since the start of their website in April 2003, Quizzing's forums have had over 150,000 posts and count some 33,000 user registrations.
The company behind the website, Quizzing Ltd, currently has three directors - Chris Jones, Jane Allen, and veteran quiz show host Nicholas Parsons.

They also publish UK quiz rankings, upon which national selection for the international competitions is based. Quizzing.co.uk regard themselves as the largest of the organisations with a claim to running British Quiz both in terms of membership and participants.
[edit] Formation
The Quizzing website was launched in 2003 after the first site failed and was lost. The driving forces behind Quizzing are Chris Jones and Jane Allen with support from many others, including Mark Labbett.
