[edit] Description
Loosely based on the game of Whist, it is a game for 2 to 4 players. In the standard 4-player form of the game, the game has two teams - the fielding team and the batting team. On the fielding team one player takes the role of the bowler while the other takes the fielder role. On the batting team the two players each take the role of the batsmen. The bowler is dealt 6 bowling cards, the batsmen 6 batting cards each and the fielder gets 9 fielding cards.
Play begins when the bowler plays a card onto the table - this is the 'delivery'. The batting player who is 'on-strike' then responds by playing a hitting card which the fielder must then field. The suit and value of the cards played determine the players' success or failure: the bowler tries to force the batsmen to fail to follow suit, to play a shot card of the same value as the bowling delivery or to play a shot card to a catch; the batsmen attempt to follow suit and score points for runs; the fielder attempts to catch a batsman's shot or prevent runs.
