This page is not the place to ask general questions.
This page is for discussing the Wikipedia page "Wikipedia:Questions".
Use this link to find out how to ask questions and get answers.

This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Wikipedia:Questions page.

You can find the answers to many of your questions at the following places:

Finding information

  • Search — for many questions it's fastest and easiest to use the search box.

e.g. To find the capital of South Africa, fill in South Africa in the box on the left and click Search.

  • Reference Desks — for knowledge questions (about anything other than how to use Wikipedia) you can ask our volunteers.

e.g. "What country has the world's largest fishing fleet?"

Computing - Entertainment - Language - Humanities - Mathematics - Science - Miscellaneous

How to use Wikipedia

Shortcut:
WP:Q
WP:DESK
  • FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions about Wikipedia
  • Help:Contents — information about using Wikipedia.

e.g. "How do I add an image to an article?"

Asking questions or making comments

  • Each article has a Talk page — click on the article's discussion link at the top of the page — for questions, reporting vandalism or discussions about the article.
  • Village pump is the discussion forum for many technical and policy issues.

IRC — help chat

You are also welcome to ask questions in one of Wikipedia's IRC channels. If you have an IRC client installed you can join a channel by connecting to #wikipedia-bootcamp (a help channel for new Wikipedians) or #wikipedia (for general chat). You can also use the web-based client to be connected instantly.

Wikipedia:Contact us - merge?

The Sidebar redesign group is currently planning on placing both "Questions" and "Contact us" in the redesigned sidebar. There is some concern that these pages overlap (which was first mentioned in January), and/or are confusingly similar, and/or don't link to each other clearly enough.

This note is just to prompt these pages' maintainers into A) working together to clarify the purpose and difference of both pages, and B) to raise the possibility of a merge. I'll leave you to work the details out :) --Quiddity 18:52, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
