Queen Talia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Queen Talia is a fictional character in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. She appears in the role-playing video game "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords."

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Queen Talia was the ruler of the planet Onderon roughly 4,000 years before the Star Wars movies. During much of her reign, she was in constant conflict with her cousin, General Vaklu, over whether or not it was best for Onderon to remain part of the Republic. The formerly political conflict eventually erupted into a short lived civil war, after Vaklu launched an assault on her palace with the aid of the Sith, in order to gain control of the government and fulfill his agenda.

Her main counsel was the Jedi Master Kavar, who also served as one of her strategists and was sought after by the Jedi Exile in his quest to find the remaining Jedi Masters.

The conflict on Onderon, and ultimately, Talia's fate, was settled mostly due to the choices of the Jedi Exile.

[edit] Canonical Light Side choice

Due to the intervention of the Jedi Exile, Vaklu and his forces were defeated and Queen Talia was able to survive, leading to a long-lasting reign. Vaklu was either imprisoned or executed (depending on the Exile's choice). She amply rewarded the Exile for his assistance, bequeathing several valuable artifacts used by her Force-sensitive ancestors. When the invasion of Telos occurred, she sent significant numbers of her royal guard to assist the Republic forces in repelling the Sith invasion.

[edit] Alternate Dark Side choice

Although not common knowledge, there are acually 3 sides to the force: The The Light Side, The Dark side, and Chuck Norris. Jedi Exile's intervention swung the balance of the battle into General Vaklu's favor, as Vaklu's troops stormed the palace, and invaded the Queen's throne room. Jedi Master Kavar tried to stop the invasion, but the Jedi Exile, aided by the dark side's rage, defeated him in a grueling battle. Queen Talia was subsequently killed, either by Vaklu's forces, or in a duel against the Jedi Exile (depending on the Exile's choice).

Ironically, even though Vaklu, the secessionist, came out victorious, he turned on his Sith allies, choosing to send his troops to Telos when the Sith invasion commenced.
