Queen Mary's School

Queen Mary's School is an all-girls' school for day and boarding students ages 3-16 in North Yorkshire. Established in 1925, the school is set on 50 acres of landscaped grounds. Housing approximately 300 students, Queen Mary's students achieve self confidence and independence in a safe environment through a wide range of academic, music, sporting and recreational activities.

Academia is highly focused upon, but there is something for every pupil: Extensive support for those with learning disabilities, games with regular matches and practices, music, and drama. There are scholarships available for all age groups.

There are four houses, which have regular inter-house competitions. These include the house cross-country, drama and music competitions. There is even a debating and general knowledge competition. The best day for house competitions is Sports Day, where, when the results are announced, everyone is on the edge of their seats. There are also regular 'house meetings' where senior girls fulfill their inter-house responsibilties.

The four houses, named after local abbeys are Byland (blue), Fountains (yellow), Jervaulx (green) and Rievaulx(red). Traditionally, sisters are in the same house. Many teachers are also assigned to houses and assist the senior girls by mentoring.

The school is well known throughout North Yorkshire for its Music especially its CHapel CHoi who have released two CDs of music. The School is a member of the Woodard Corperation
