Queen City

The term "Queen City" is used to describe the capital city of a province or state, where that country observes a monarch (typically the Queen) as the “head of state”.[citation needed]

Regina, Saskatchewan is fondly referred to as the Queen City because Regina is Latin for Queen; named after Queen Victoria.

Toronto, Ontario is sometimes referred to as "Queen City", particularly by francophone residents of Quebec ("La Ville-Reine"). Auckland, New Zealand has been known as the "Queen City" despite no longer being the capital of New Zealand, although this moniker has largely fallen into disuse.
