Queen Charlotte merchant ship

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Queen Charlotte was a British merchant ship in the late 18th century. It was named after Charlotte, the queen consort of King George III. This merchant ship should not be confused with the various Royal Navy ships called HMS Queen Charlotte which were also named after this queen.

In 1787, the Queen Charlotte was on a trading voyage in the waters off north-western North America, commanded by Captain George Dixon. He named the Queen Charlotte Islands after his ship.
