Queen's College Lagos

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Situated in Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria, Queen's College Lagos is often referred to as the "Sister College" of King's College, Lagos. Founded in 1927, it is a large government-owned girl's secondary (high) school with boarding facilities. There are six forms which are equivalent to the American 7th grades through 12th grades. Each form contains about 600 students divided into several arms, making the total population of the school roughly 4000. However, in recent times, class sizes have reduced to an average of 40 per class. The total population for the 2006/2007 session currently stands at 2,160 students. The school has returned the best results nationwide in the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) conducted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) seven times since 1985. Because it is government-owned, school fees are relatively affordable. The motto is "Pass On The Torch."
