[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome!

Hello, Quatreryukami, and Welcome to Wikipedia! I saw some of your recent edits and I think you'll be a great contributor. As Wikipedia states on its Main Page, it's the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit. It currently has 1,719,081 articles, though this number is self-updating and goes up each day. If you really like it here, you might want to make a donation to Wikipedia, as it is a non-profit organization. You might also consider joining one of Wikipedia's sister projects. Have a nice time, and don't let the grumpy users scare you off!

Useful Links/Policy

Wikipedia has a lot of policy that you should or must follow. Wikipedia:Avoiding common mistakes is a good place to start off, and so is this. Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines gives a good overview on policy. Wikipedia:Vandalism is the policy on Wikipedia vandalism, and the blocking policy tells you what you have to do to get blocked. Wikipedia:Sockpuppets has the general guidelines on sockpuppeting. Wikipedia:Userboxes has a directory of userboxes, which some users disagree with but I personally like. Wikipedia:New contributors' help page is a good place to get help from more experienced editors, and Wikipedia:Naming conventions will help you with your first article. There is a lot more, but you can find it out on your own.

Words of farewell

I hope this information hasn't overwhelmed you. As you become more experienced, maybe you'll take my shoes and welcome new users like I'm doing right now. Keep up the great editing, and maybe, someday, you'll reach up and attain the rank of administrator! If you need more information, there are a variety of kind users that can help you, and if you ever need any real help, just put {{helpme}} on your talkpage, and someone will be there in a few minutes! Don't be shy to ask a question; all of us were new at some point, and even I ask questions! If you have a question for me, don't hesitate to give me a yell!

[edit] Response to Your Question about Super Smash Bros. Brawl

I made the same response on my talk page, but I thought I'd leave the message here just in case you do not see it there.

I did remove the vandalism. However, I reverted to a version of the page that I believed to be non-vandalised, but that version was vandalised as well. This was not in the edit difference section, and I did not notice my error until another user reverted it to the correct version. I did not vandalise the page. Hope that clears it up for you, and I'm still deciding on whether or not to accept the nomination. JONJONAUG 19:45, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RFA

Hi. I noticed you seem to be trying to nominate yourself over at requests for admin. Just thought I'd drop by and caution you that with less than 500 edits you are not likely to succeed. People tend to look for candidates who have been around for months and made thousands of edits in all namespaces. Why not wait a while and watch what goes on with other candidates before you try. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 20:38, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, good luck then! ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 20:42, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I agree. Just withdraw for now and try again when you get more experience. Ganfon 20:46, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
    • Hey, as long as you're contributing, have a great knowledge of everything and have a good amount of Wiki edits...I can't see not supporting you. :) Ganfon 21:00, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Dir En Grey

Hello, I'm afraid I have to decline your request for my name (just my policy on these things, nothing personal), but thanks a lot for your message! It's great to get some positive feedback now and then, especially since some of those edits took quite some time and effort to make. Have a nice day - Cyrus XIII 06:01, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Well, there are the links in the References section and from then on it's pretty much the band's official site and of course all the releases. - Cyrus XIII 14:11, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reporting a vandal

When a vandal has vandalised past the level 4 warning, report him at WP:AIV (Administrator's intervention against vandalism). He will then be blocked shortly thereafter. - Gilliam 16:57, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Helpme request

There are instructions on Wikipedia:Barnstar. --ais523 17:09, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

what is the template for warning a vandal?Quatreryukami 16:07, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Help me! (again)

I need some help creating a user box. I need it to have the wiki logo and say This user has failed the Request for Adminship x times. thx.Quatreryukami 16:55, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't recommend you make a new userbox — my personal view is that we don't need more. But if you do want to, the instructiosn are at WP:UBX#Constructing_a_userbox. I hope that this helps.—msh210 17:29, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] im looking for help

i hope you like answering a lot of questions though EDIT: has been adopted by Deckiller (talk contribs)

[edit] Hi

Sure, I'll adopt. As for the questions above, feel free to begin firing away. Within reason, of course :) — Deckiller 00:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

I'll help give your userpage a makeover, and then you can fill everything in from there. By the way, it might be best to put a link to your userpage and your talkpage into your signature. You can do this by clicking on "my preferences", and editing your signature. I'm fairly certain you have to have raw signature clicked, as well. — Deckiller 22:37, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
Also, if you have AIM, we can talk over IM. My AIM/AOL is SonOfYoungwood. — Deckiller 22:40, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
In looking at your userpage, it's going to be quite difficult to get a similar design because of all the from scratch userboxes. If you have some ideas as to what you are willing to sacrifice and what you'd like to add to your userpage, feel free to say. — Deckiller 22:55, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey, well, how do you exactly set up or start a user talk page?

Thanks for the AIM; I should be online later today. — Deckiller 17:40, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Okay; I've gotten replies from two other users, so I guess I have my three :) If you have any more questions, let me know. — Deckiller 13:04, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:DanteDMC4cropped.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:DanteDMC4cropped.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Signpost

Editing for the Signpost is easy. When you see a Wikipedia issue that you think should be covered, post in the newsroom your intention to write about it (sometimes, if I see a story I think should be covered, I'll post it there, and other users can write about it). Stories are due around 17:00 UTC every Monday. Ral315 » 05:00, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your comments on the RfC

I wanted to drop you this note because I saw your comment at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Doc glasgow. Please do not think that your comment is unwelcome or your voice will not be heard just because you are not an administrator. Every contributor is entitled to make their feelings known on these types of issues, and it is definitely not the case that everyone who posted an outside view on that page was an administrator. (I am now, but I wasn't until last month, and it doesn't change what I would have written before then.)

Incidentally, you make some good points, but I don't agree with everything you wrote, and I hope you read and considered what I had to say as well. Regards, Newyorkbrad 15:05, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Protection

Hi; sorry it took me so long to respond, becuase it's been really hectic lately. It looks like someone has protected the pages already. — Deckiller 15:10, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Geoff Lapaire

Honestly, there was almost no information about Geoff Lapaire on the previous Geoff Lapaire page. There's almost a dozen mentions of his name on the Pure Pwnage page. In the end there is far more information about him there than there was on the separate page. (From the Pure Pwnage page I see that he plays two characters, not one, directs the thing, that he's a musician, and that there was a mystery for a while over his connection to the thing. That's a lot more than was in the sub-stub separate article on him.) When this is the case, there's really no purpose in there being a separate page.

None of this is a judgement on whether there *should* be a separate article on him. But the article that was there was definitely inferior to the Pure Pwnage, IMHO. If you want to write up a full article on him, go for it. Especially useful would be info that has nothing to do with Pure Pwnage. Pure Pwnage mentions somewhere that he's a musician. Any more info on that? Date of birth? Place of birth? Where does he live now? Anything else he's done of note?

Does that make sense? - TexasAndroid 20:38, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Devil May Cry's mythology...

There's not enough information to justify a seperate Weapons page. Likewise there's not enough to talk about Dante's various fighting styles or most of the other information you referenced... Wikipedia is not a game guide, afterall. Cheers, Lankybugger 17:46, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GI Online

To Quatreryukami I do not work for GI. Nick, who is the Production Assistant for the Game Informer website asked us to make a wiki for the website. I started it, hoping others on the website would join in but so far it has been all talk and no action. Nick wants us to add something about the reviews and previews, but there nothing much we can say. Always up for help. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Juganhut (talkcontribs) 20:40, 29 March 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost

I have a few positions open. If you know a lot about technology, particularly MediaWiki, you might be interested in writing our technology report, which can be compiled from the MediaWiki commit log. If you're interested in press coverage about Wikipedia, you can help with our In the news section. What I'd really like are a few people to cover special stories, like the story I wrote this week about Danny and Brad's resignations. If anything appeals to you in particular, let me know, and I'll give you more information. If you're still not sure, let me know, and I can give you an idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks so much for volunteering. Ral315 » 05:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject MMO Newsletter - April 2007

WikiProject MMO Quarterly
April 2007 Issue I
About Us
WikiProject MMO Quarterly is a quarterly newsletter posted on the first of January, April, July, and October. The newsletter is written by any and all interested members of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games for members of the project and interested Wikipedians outside of the project.
Questions, comments, and concerns
For general questions, comments, and concerns, leave a message on our talk page here. For questions, comments, and concerns about our newsletter, leave a message on the talk page for the newsletter section of our Outreach Department here.
New good articles and featured articles
Good articles and featured articles are a great way to see what major acomplishments we have made over the last quarter.

Good articles

Featured articles
None this quarter!

Role call
We ask that within a month, all members sign our role call to show that they are still active participants in the project. More information is available on the role call page.
Major news
WikiProject RuneScape, our former child project, was moved to become a task force of this project in January as it had a small scope but the task force is still going strong to this very day.

This past quarter marks the beginning of our new collaboration system MMOGCM. Past collaborations thus far have been World of Warcraft and MMORPG, both of which made it to GA status while it was the MMOGCM.

As well, we now have an Outreach Department which works on this newsletter as well as spreads the word of our project.

WikiProject MMO is also now a participant in the Work via WikiProjects division of Wikipedia 1.0 and as such, we will be helping decide which are the best (based on quality and importance) articles within our scope. Project members can discuss which articles are to be included here.

News from the RuneScape Task Force
We are currently trying to improve this task force so that we can edit all RuneScape-related articles in an organized manner. To do that we started a massive overhaul which we invite all task force members to participate in.

We have also gotten our main article, RuneScape to good article status this quarter. All this, and the task force was only created in January.

Signed...
Greeves, Ed

On behalf of WikiProject Massively multiplayer online games.
