Quatro Soda

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quatro is a carbonated soda beverage manufactured by Coca-Cola that is sold in Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Uruguay. It is available in Grapefruit and Lemon flavors.

From 1983 to 1985 it was also commonly available in the United Kingdom. It was a "fruit crush" drink which was 3 or 4 fruits, hence the colours of the artwork on the cans.

Along with the innovative advertising used for "Cherry Coke" (as "Coca-Cola Cherry" was once known when it first came out) it was best known for the TV commercials where the viewer "went inside a vending machine" to learn how the drink was supposedly produced. It had a multi-coloured innovative packaging also, representing the colours of the fruits contained inside it. It was, however, a mostly colourless liquid (a shade or two lighter than "Lilt"). It was available in 330ml tins and larger bottles.

It had a fruity, sweet, yet crisp taste and always left you wanting more.

Sadly production and sale of the drink ceased in the United Kingdom after the late 1980's or or so. A great loss to the fans of this drink and the adverts.

(Personal update note - I wrote to Coca-Cola in the United Kingdom in the mid-late 1990's and was told it was still available and I had to ask shop keepers if they would order it for sale, as they didn't supply it unless it was asked for especially. I cannot put an exact date on this but it could have been anything up to 1997?).
