Quantcast Corporation is an open Internet ratings service that compiles data on websites. The company offers free psychographic and demographic data about audiences including age, gender, income, ethnicity and other information.

Founded in 2005 by Konrad Feldman and Paul Sutter, Quantcast created a free service to help anyone understand the demographic trends of users on the Internet. The co-founders wanted to help advertisers and publishers identify whom to target in the Long tail.
Quantcast launched its Internet ratings service on September 19, 2006. The company is located in San Francisco, CA.
As of November 2006, the company is privately funded.
As of December 2006, the company tracks over 20 million Internet destinations.

Along the same lines as Alexa and comScore, Quantcast provides data on Internet audiences. They differ in that they are free and also cover more sites.
