Quadrant Park

[edit] Quadrant Park Site
It was located on Derby Road in Bootle away from the centre of the city of Liverpool in a converted warehouse. Originally opened in the late 1980s as a Sunday Market in the downstairs warehouse area, and upstairs contained a small social club which could be hired out for social occasions.
[edit] History
After the Sunday market trade had moved mainly moved to a nearby dock warehouse, Quadrant park opened up as a nightclub in the late 1980s. Quadrant Park's Main era in Italian house, Rave and Acid house music began in 1990 and survived until December 1991, despite considerable and persistent licensing issues and unfavourable media attention in newspapers. Mike Knowler was the original resident and soon invited partner Andy Carroll to join him. Carroll had previously worked at acid house music venue The State. Several past guest DJ's include Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Frankie Bones, and Sasha.
[edit] After Closure
The downstairs (nightclub) remained mainly intact until it's demolition in the early 2000s. Upstairs the social club transformed itself into a Snooker hall with a newly installed 5-a-side pitch at the rear of the upstairs section. After a compulsory purchase of the site was made by Sefton Council in 1998, the Club closed it's doors and the site became completely empty. In 2003 the site was levelled and transformed into a public recycling centre by Sefton Council which is still in use to this day. Many local nightclubs organise Quad reunion nights at many of Liverpool's nightclubs to varied success.
