Quad City Mallards

The Quad City Mallards are an ice hockey team that began play in 1995. They are currently owned by a local ownership group based in the Quad Cities. They are a member of the United Hockey League. The Mallards play their home games at The MARK of the Quad Cities in Moline, Illinois. The team colors are forest green and burgundy. They have won the Colonial Cup (hockey) in 1997, 1998 and 2001. They have won the Tarry Cup in 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2002.

  • A crowd of 10,145 was on hand for game 7 of the UHL Finals at The Mark of the Quad Cities on May 14th, 1998. This was a record for a single UHL game. The record has since been broken by the Fort Wayne Komets.
  • The Mallards are the only professional hockey team to win 50 or more games in 6 consecutive seasons. The old record was 4 consecutive seasons, held by the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens.1
  • The Mallards won a UHL-record 57 games in the 2001-2002 regular season.

  • October 13th, 1995 - The Mallards played their first road game.
  • October 25th, 1995 - The Mallards played their first home game.
  • March 21st, 2001 - The Mallards won their 50th game of the season, making it a record 5 straight seasons with 50 or more wins.2
  • March 17th, 2002 - The Mallards won their 50th game of the season, making it a record 6 straight seasons with 50 or more wins.2
  • January 20th, 2006 - The Mallards recorded their 500th franchise victory with a 5-1 victory over the Flint Generals. Incidentally, both teams came into the game with 499 franchise victories.3
  • January 28th, 2006 - The Mallards drew their 3 millionth fan in franchise history.4
  • March 24th, 2007 - Don Parsons scored his 623rd career goal versus the Flint Generals, becoming the all-time leader for American-born professional players.

Historically, the Mallards have enjoyed heated and spirited rivalries with competitors from Michigan, the Flint Generals and Muskegon Fury. A new rivalry developed in the late 1990s, when the Thunder Bay, Ontario franchise moved to Rockford, Illinois and became the Rockford IceHogs.
