- This article uses algebraic notation to describe chess moves.
In chess, D15 is the ECO code for the QGD; Slav, 4.Nc3 chess opening. The game begins 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.Nc3. In this classification, Black can respond with any move but if Black plays 4...dxc4 White's move is limited to 5.a4. It's properly known as the Slav but the diagrammed position can transpose into the Semi-Slav (D43-D47) or even the Slav, Dutch (D19). Maybe its versatility is what has made the D15 as popular as when it was regularly played by Alexander Alekhine and Max Euwe.
