The Q and R class was a class of sixteen destroyer escorts of the Royal Navy launched in 1941–1942. They were built as two flotillas, known as the 3rd and 4th Emergency Flotilla. They served as convoy escorts in World War II.

[edit] Post-War
Following brief post-war careers, many destroyers were converted to anti-submarine frigates. Royal Navy conversions consisted of Type 15 frigate and Type 16 frigate (limited) programmes undertaken during 1951-52. The Royal Australian Navy converted all of their ships except HMAS Quality (scrapped 1958) to Type 15 frigates from 1953-57.
