[edit] History

In mid 1930s Polish Department of Communication ordered passenger plane for LOT Polish Airlines. Modern construction, designed by Wsiewołod Jakimiuk was planned to replace Douglas DC-2 used by LOT. Airplane was flown on March 12th, 1938 and was designed PZL.44 Wicher. Initially LOT airlines ordered 10 PZL.44s but high cost of single plane was reason for cancelling order. LOT bought cheaper Lockheed Model 14 Super Electra instead.
