Pyrem is a character from CrossGen Entertainment's Sigilverse. He appeared almost entirely in The First. He appears to be a perfect superman wearing yellow and grey.

[edit] Character Details

Pyrem was one of the seven key powers among The First, self-styled gods of their galaxy. Pyrem was Altwaal's right-hand man and was told many things by Altwaal which were not shared to the other First. Pyrem was intended to be the personification of empathy or understanding. He became the war leader of the House Dexter and for many thousands of years he was the leader of the Council of House Dexter.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Pyrem is a somewhat weak and vacilating character. In the series he is presented as someone who is unwilling to make hard decisions (regarding Seahn or Ingra) while others around him (like Trenin and Yala are demanding final judgements.

The great love of Pyrem's life is Ingra, the long-time leader of House Sinister. Ingra gave birth to one child, Pyrem's daughter Persha. However, Ingra was unwilling to give up her power to be with Pyrem, and Pyrem was equally unwilling to give up his duty to House Dexter, so they remained apart for many thousands of years.

In episode #15 Pyrem chooses to accept Seahn's offer of a duel for supremancy in House Dexter but finds himself overmatched. The Gauntlet of Altwaal (one of the seven weapons of Altwaal) is taken from him by Enson and then he is over-matched by Braag and Seahn. He is held captive for a time till he is rescued by Trenin, Yala, and Gracos (Gracos is killed in the operation by Braag).

In episode #23, Pyrem (this time armed with Altwaal's shield, another of Altwaal's weapons) goes and rescues Ingra. Ingra, having been displaced from power by Braag, Seahn and Enson. Together, Ingra and Pyrem live on the Dexter side of Elysia. From this point on, Pyrem knows Ingra is plotting against House Dexter but he does nothing to stop her and at the end he resigns his position as the leader of the Dexter Council.

Pyrem is weaker than he looks. He is emotionally fragile (he nearly falls to pieces when he learns from Solusandra that he was created by her as a playmate for Altwaal, see Solus #6). He has no ability to stand up to Ingra. Even as a warrior he seems ineffective without the benefit of one of Altwaal's weapons.

While Ingra monitors and tries to control most of the various Sigil-Bearers, Pyrem largely lets them alone and seems to make no effort to understand them or their power (only Bernd Rechts is sent to monitor Prince Ethan, though Trenin takes an interest in Samandahl Rey).

Despite the awesome power shown by Enson, Pyrem makes no effort to learn the mystery behind Enson, nor does he rebuke him for taking Altwaal's Gauntlet from him the middle of a battle.

At the end (final issue #37), all Pyrem can do is stare speechless as Altwaal returns to Elysia and kills (?) his daughter Persha, taking control of The First again.

Spoilers end here.
