PVS

The acronym PVS can stand for more than one thing:
- Persistent vegetative state;
- Polynesian Voyaging Society;
- Positive Vacuum Supply, a system to advance or retard the ignition system spark timing in an internal combustion engine, by using engine vacuum, in the distributor.
- Post-Vietnam syndrome;
- Potentially visible set, a technique to speed-up BSP tree navigation in FPS games;
- Principal variation search;
- Prototype Verification System, a specification language used for the formal specification and verification of software;
- A satirical news channel on the BBC's programme Broken news :- see PVS (channel).
- Prisoner Visitation and Support, a prison-visitation program in the United States Federal and Military prisons.
- Personal Viewing Sight with a numerical suffix to designate the model. PVS's are used by the American military for passive (non-thermal) night vision. PVS suffixes range from PVS-2 through PVS-22 skipping PVS-16 for some reason. Mst military PVS's have a civilian equivalent model number.
