Purge or PurgeFinal (formerly known as PurgeJihad), is a free massively multiplayer first-person shooter computer game published by Freeform Interactive. Purge is also the sequel the Future vs. Fantasy mod originally for Quake. The exact date of Purge's release is unknown, however Purge came out of open beta in 2004. Purge's gameplay follow those of Unreal Tournament, Warsow and Nexuiz, where the player is thrown into fast paced action in futuristic settings. However, what makes Purge unique is its universe. Unlike Unreal Tournament, where the game is set in a pure science-fiction world, Purge is set place in a world where magic fights against technology. (As explained in the previous game's title: Furture vs. Fantasy). Purge is one of the few games that incorporate magic users as a first person shooter style character (Hexen/Heretic was the first).[1]

[edit] Maps

Unlike Warsow where the maps are totally enclosed. Purge maps range from a large variety. From large scale to small enclosed maps.

  • Small - A small map is made for 2-24 players. It can accommodate more players, however it may become very chaotic with attacks coming from all directions. Some small maps are physically large, but the map layout and obstructions keep the pace of combat quick.
  • Large - A large map is made for 10-64 players. Large maps are great for epic Battlefield style games. Still can be played with less players, but is not recommended.[2]

Large Maps:

  • Armored Outpost
  • Canopy
  • Caverns
  • Detention
  • Dragon Bones
  • Hegira
  • Satan's Forge
  • Secret Fire
  • Terminus
  • Valhalla

Small Maps:

  • Bulwark
  • Cargo Depot
  • Destiny
  • Escom
  • Firebase Alpha
  • Proteus
  • Pumpstation

Like GunZ, Purge focus on character development rather than straight foward frag like Unreal Tournament. Each character has to chose a side: The order (technology) or the Chosen (magic). Then the player chooses attributes for his or her character. (Like a MMORPG). Each character's appearance are also customizable..[3]
