Purewal is a gotra or clan of Jats found mainly in the state of Punjab in India.

The villages of origin of the Purewal clan are Shankar and Hakim Pur in the Doaba region of Punjab. In Shankar, Purewal villagers trace their lineage back to 3 Purewal brothers, dating to 1700.

Due to emmigration over the last forty years, members of the clan can be found in many countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Malaysia and New Zealand
