Puram (Hindi: pur) is a Sanskrit word meaning village, fort, or dwelling. -pur or -puram is a common suffix for cities in India.

Puram (Puram — புறம்) in the Sangam literature denotes the subject matters that deal with war, politics, wealth, etc.

Puram is also the name of a March festival of the goddess Durga, celebrated most notably in the village Pathamkulam in Kerala.
