[edit] AMA Requests for Assistance:Futurebird
Hi, I will be your adavacot for this case. Please note that I am a traniee and Trodel might help out too. Firstly, I would like to know how long age the last AfD on the article was.
Well, the info is here
- Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Race and intelligence 2 December 2006
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Race and intelligence Jun 2005
it happened before I joined wikipedia. Looks like over a year ago.
(I hope this is the right place to respond to your question.)futurebird 03:56, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
The other one was just the main page Race and intelligence. (My mistake.) So there was an error in my summary it was only nominated for deletion once.futurebird 04:04, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Note that the above AfD (no.2) was closed after just one day. Part of the problem may have been that it was a bundled nomination with 2 other candidates. Orderinchaos78 07:44, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you for the barnstar!
I'd like to show my appreciation of you awarding me a 'Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar'. I am thrilled to finally receive a barnstar, especially for what I have been doing around the community (that most people don't know about). I guess thats where the WikiGnome comes into discussion! Once again, thank you. --Extranet (Talk | Contribs) 09:50, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
- Same here! This is the first time I've gotten an actual barnstar! Woohoo! Thanks again. Regards, •The RSJ• Talk | Sign Here 22:25, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia Namespace
Please note that by editing WP:BOTREQ, you were editing in the WP namespace. Per the restrictions you have agreed to, such editing is not permitted. Regards, alphachimp 07:04, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Well, how else were I to make a request for a bot? -- Punk Boi 8 07:06, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you absolutely must make an edit to the Wikipedia namespace, you need to ask your mentor or another admin to make the edit for you or, if Trodel agrees, allow you a once-off exemption from your agreement. You are violating your agreement every single day that you edit. This is completely unacceptable. Aside from breaking your promises, I think it is really rude and unfair on Trodel who has voluntarily donated his valuable time to you in trying to help you become a productive member of the community and avoid being banned. Sarah 12:22, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Blocked
Nathan, I have blocked for 72 hours for continually (i.e. on a daily basis) violating your mentorship agreement. Since you were warned yesterday about making edits to the Wikipedia space, you have made at least six WP edits. You have also started asking Ral about The Signpost again. As I understand it, you agreed to stop bothering Ral about The Signpost until the conclusion of your mentor program. You have also reassigned yourself a mediation case despite the fact that your mentor explained to you why you cannot mediate disputes. Even if you were to be allowed to mediate, it would have to be done on site for transparency and supervision. Saying you are taking the case and taking it off-site to email is totally unacceptable. I know you will be upset about this block, but it seems that you are not taking your mentor seriously. I was one of the people who actively opposed the proposal to community ban you, however, your persistent refusal to stick to your promises leads me to believe that a ban is inevitable. Please prove me wrong. Please take these three days off and then come back and be careful to follow the terms of your mentorship program. Sarah 12:22, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- I extended this block to a week. I am concerned that you have ignored suggestions that you focus on the article space, and continue to edit in the Wikipedia namespace in ways that could be interpretted as creating disruption. For example: adding yourself as mediator immediately after being told you are not prepared to take on the task; listing an article for protection that does not have an active dispute (at least not in the last 24 hours); proposing something to Ral315 implying that I approved when you hadn't got any response from me on the suggestion; and requesting a bot for something that is as easy as looking at the title of the page you are editing. I gave you specific instructions on how to know whether you are editing in the wrong namespace if it starts with a "Wikipedia:". To further clarify if any page starts with "Template:", "Portal:", "Wikipedia:", "Mediawiki:", "Help:", or "Category:" do not edit it for now. I am inclined not to reduce this block even if you apologize and promise to behave, since I don't know how else to convince you that your actions continue to violate the community norms. --Trödel 15:09, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- I am heavly invloved in external tasks at this point. -- Punk Boi 8 19:40, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
-
- It is up to you, Punk Boi, but my strong advice is to take a break on the external tasks and edit articles for a while. I know it may suck, but I think you are going to have bad results if you insist on jumping straight to external tasks. TheronJ 19:49, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

-
- Maybe you should have told me that before I e-mailed Trodel then and before I got a block. -- Punk Boi 8 19:57, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

- It's not too late. Trodel and Sarah would both like to see you succeed -- they might be the most useful and committed friends you have on Wikipedia. If you misunderstood Trodel's earlier instructions in your mentorship, that's fine -- ride out your block and then buckle down on your mentorship tasks. TheronJ 20:08, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- This is true, I really do want to see you succeed. In fact if you want to put some of the results of the mentorship task from TheronJ on this talk page - I'll create a Sandbox section below - I could be swayed to reduce the block. --Trödel 22:48, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

- Not sure what you're sorry for or the relevance this has to my comment re your edits over the last week. This shows that you edit the main space about 20% of the time, and the Wikipedia space about 27% of the time. Unfortunately, the percentage of edits to the Wikipedia space has been increasing and was about 50% last week, and since this comment instructing you to not edit the Wikipedia namespace at all, you edited the Wikipedia namespace on 6 of 26 (23%) edits, and most of these edits could be viewed as being disruptive. And 5 of these edits were after you posted saying you are "sorry" --Trödel 15:35, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Also this from my talk page is relevant to the block here

[edit] Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- ForteTuba 17:20, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Awards
There are three proposals which need some comments. Please weigh in:
Two of the three are sensitive, and thuglas is taking the whole process personally. Finally, there has never been a standard for how much support is needed for the creation of a barnstar. The LGBT star went up with seven votes, and thuglas is threatening to post his star when he gets ten supportive votes. Thoughts? --evrik (talk)
- Once again, someone disagrees with my interpretation of our very loose guidelines. Now I don't mind when two users like WJBscribe and Kathryn_NicDh%C3%A0na, but they've taken the disagreement and posted negative comments over at that RFC.
- So ... could you please weigh in one last time ... new barnstar or a wikiproject award Wikipedia:Barnstar_and_award_proposals/New_Proposals#The_Copyeditor.27s_Award. Thanks. --evrik (talk) 22:55, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your request for a new mentor
Thanks for your message to my talk page. If you have a problem with the availability of Trodel, I suggest you raise the matter with him at his talk page to see if you can both come to an arrangement. Trodel was editing today, however did have a recent week long break. I feel its best left between you two as to what the future of your mentoring holds. Cheers. -- Longhair\talk 08:23, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
