[edit] Block Requests

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | unblock | contribs) asked to be unblocked, but an administrator or other user has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators or users can also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). This unblock request continues to be visible. Do not replace this message with another unblock request nor add another unblock request.

Request reason: "I am a very young editior, a admin (the one who blocked me) has chosen to help me and I agree to this. I have just decided to just edit articles after this and I will cease the Wikipedia Times. Thank you in advance."

Decline reason: "If that's the case, your blocking administrator needs to unblock you. You might want to E-mail him/her to do this. -- —Pilotguy (push to talk) 01:41, 16 December 2006 (UTC)"

This template should be removed when the block has expired, or after 2 days in the case of blocks of 1 week or longer.

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Nathannoblet has agreed to mentorship per my proposal below, and has committed to making edits to the main and talk namespaces only for now.

Request handled by: --Trödel 02:12, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

How do I make a 1.0 assement banner.

Thanks Nathannoblet 04:34, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your RfA

Nathan, please consider withdrawing your request for adminship. I believe a 'crat will withdraw it under WP:SNOW anyway, but I think it would be better for you if you withdraw it before too many more people !vote because it can be a very painful process. Please give it some thought. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 09:23, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hangman

Nathan, I updated your Hangman game since you seemed to have forgotten - hope that's OK.

Seeing the message above, I'd make the friendly suggestion that you focus on editing articles for the next few months (perhaps as part of WikiProject Gold Coast), and establish a history of strong content edits before getting too involved in administrative and other community activity again. You have the potential to be a helpful editor, but must remember that the main purpose is to write the encyclopaedia. --Scott Davis Talk 10:47, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1.0 banner

I haven't the faintest idea what you're asking me about, so I'm probably not the best person to ask :). --SB_Johnny|talk|books 00:22, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AMA IRC

Hi Nathan. Would you be able to list yourself at WP:AMAIRC so we can verify you, before coming back on IRC and /msg ing me or Royalguard11 who will voice you. Also make sure that you register your nick! As an aside, if join join the channel and see text appearing saying something like +v being set on your username, it means ou can talk in the channel and ask there. As a matter of practice, I set +v to anyone hwo joins, so they can immediately request voice. Thanks, Martinp23 01:09, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

[edit] WP:GA

Before passing articles, please read the requirements:

1. Remove it from the list using the edit summary "Passed [[Article Name]]"
2. Replace {{GAnominee}} with {{GA}} on the article's talk page. To indicate the reviewed version of a Good Article, use {{GA|oldid=nnnnnn}} on the talk page (replacing nnnnn with the id number of the reviewed version) rather than just {{GA}}.
3. Leave a comment about your reasons for passing the article (with suggestions to improve the article, if you can).
4. List the article on Wikipedia:Good articles under the appropriate section and update the article count at the end of the section.

Emphasis is mine. You failed to do both 3 and 4 (there is already a section for tropical cyclones on WP:GA), please do these next time you decide to pass a GA. – Chacor 07:34, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi there. I noticed you just passed another article, leaving only a one-line comment at the talk page. Here's some helpful guidelines when passing or failing an article:
When leaving comments, you may find it helpful to give comments based on the GA criteria. These are, "Well written", "Factually accurate", "Broad", "NPOV", "Stability", and "Images". This will usually help the people who've written the article to improve it further. Comments like "Keep it up, I now understand what this is about" are nice to see, but aren't always helpful. Glad to see you're trying to leave comments for GAs though. Happy reviewing! – Chacor 10:03, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for mediation

I have declined mediation; I feel this is a simple issue that mediation cannot resolve. I do ask, however, that any further fruitless attempts to resolve this dispute (and I firmly believe there is no dispute between us) be referred to as a dispute between Nathannoblet and Ral315, and not a Signpost dispute. [edit] WP:RfAr#Ral315

Hi Nathan, as you may have noticed, 3 arbitrators have already rejected this request for arbitration. I doubt it will be accepted, so I urge you to withdraw it. Since you have already filed a previous request for arbitration which was rejected (against Longhair), people will not look upon you favourably if you continue to file requests. Feel free to talk to me, here, on my talkpage or via e-mail to discuss your concerns, as official dispute resolution is probably inappropriate for this problem. Thanks, riana_dzasta 13:25, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Nathan, please take Riana's very good advice on board. If you continue filing frivolous requests for arbitration, you are going to be blocked for disruption. Please withdraw the request and please stop pestering Ral about the Signpost. As the editor, he is entitled to editorial oversight and may select what he does and does not wish to include. Sarah Ewart 16:51, 10 December 2006 (UTC) Also, threatening to file an arbitration request against Chacor was completely inappropriate [1]. Arbitration is the absolute last resort dispute resolution option. You don't take someone to ArbCom because they advised you to stop being disruptive. Please stop this behaviour, Nathan. If it continues, I will feel compelled to block you myself. Sarah Ewart 17:02, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Wikipedia Times

Hi Nathan, just to drop you a note that this page is being considered for deletion here. I would encourage you to either ask for deletion yourself, or userfy it (i.e. put it into a subpage of your userspace), as putting it into project space makes it seem like it has some official sanction, which it doesn't.

I think it will be in your own interests to withdraw this arbitration case, withdraw Wikipedia Times from the project space, and start afresh. Edit articles you enjoy editing; I noticed you are trying to get Gold Coast up to GA standards. Perhaps you should try to find some citations for it? You can do good work in many other areas, and I realise it's hard to be told you can't do something, but it happens all the time around here. If you focus on the things you can do well, people will really appreciate that!

Let me know how you feel.

Cheers, riana_dzasta 03:42, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

You have been blocked for 1 month for harrassing Ral315 and using process to disrupt Wikipedia. To contest this block, add the text {{unblock}} on this page, along with an explanation of why you believe this block to be unjustified. You can also email the blocking administrator or any administrator from this list. Please be sure to include your username (if you have one) and IP address in your email.

[edit] Suggestions

Hi!

I am the person who blocked you today. I became aware of the actions you have taken with regards to User:Ral315 because of your recent post on his talk page. Although I had seen your request to do a "beat" on the Signpost, I didn't know any of the history other than Ral315 said, "No thank you."

Upon looking at your edits I was surprised to see you had requested adminship so soon after joining us as a Wikipedian, which piqued my interest, so I kept reviewing some of your edits and, frankly, was shocked by some of the behavior I saw. So I blocked you.

Sarah Ewart has told me that you are very young, which, in my opinion is a mitigating factor (i.e. it effects how I view the situation in your favor). So I am proposing that you work with me to review some policies and to help you better understand the nature of dispute resolution, article promotion to GA and FA, etc.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, reply here on your talk page (you can do so even when you are blocked). If things go well, I'll be happy to remove the block earlier than the original timespan.

My first piece of advice concerns requesting unblock review:

How to Place this text: " {{unblock|reason= <put your reasoning here> }} " on your talk page (not including the " quotes) including your reasoning and another administrator will review the appropriateness of the block I placed on your account.
Do Request review only once. Be respectful to those that reply. Make your request only if you have reasons that you think a respected parent or teacher would find persuasive. In explaining your reasoning: be concise, do not attack others personally, and provide specific reasons why you think the block should be lifted.
Don't Complain bitterly about an editor. Complain that Wikipedia policies are unfair. Insult editors or admins. Use template tags such as {{helpme}} to draw additional attention to your userpage.

Finally, good work on articles, making contributions to the text (as you have done) and supplying images (as you have done) is valued above all. Learning to work with others is an essential skill that will allow you to be more productive with your edits. I am hopeful that through this process you will be back editing your favorite Australian articles quickly. --Trödel 19:08, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Moving forward

I noticed that the reviewing admin would like me to make the decision regarding unblocking.

First, let me say, "Thank you!" for a professional unblock request.

Second, I think it would be good for you to formally accept mentorship.

Third, lets discuss what has been happening a little. Suppose you make an edit that you think is totally useful, neutral, appropriate for the article and fair. But some other editor thinks that edit should be removed from the article. Could you explain what you think you are supposed to do. And what you wish you could do.

Fourth, please make a short list of what things you think I could help you with, or what things you wish you knew about Wikipedia. In other words - how do you see a mentorship helping you.

I'll be gone for a couple hours. If you could respond to the above then we can continue some dialog then. --Trödel 02:20, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

As far as that goes, I'd be happy to consider it, but I can't say one way or another until your mentoring moves forward. I'll be watching it, and keeping an eye on your work, and I'm sure Trodel will let me know when he feels you're ready. Ral315 (talk) 18:54, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Just keep making changes like you did to Coles Group recently and we'll take things one step at a time. I got your list by email and am preparing an answer. I suggest that editing the main article pages and their talk pages is the best place to spend your time for now. It worries me a little that the 2nd edit you would make after the lifting of the block would be to a Wikipedia page; however, if all you want is some assurance that the effort will be worthwhile; then yes it is worthwhile. After you follow through with the mentoring plan and develop the writing skills you need, many options will be open to you including proposing an article to Ral315 for publication in the Signpost --Trödel 20:20, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
